LEVEL 3 MECHANICAL RESTRAINT (HANDCUFF) TRAINING WITH ADVANCED CONTROL TACTICS(RQF)

How long will it take?

Day 1 & 2 of this course is the Advance Control Tactics section which on Day 3 develops into where all skills are combined into the Level 3 award for Safe Use of Mechanical Restraints. The total time required to earn this qualification certificate is 12 hours, 8 which are recommended as guided learning hours.

 

Qualification Overview

This level 3 handcuff training programme is aimed at learners who have already gained an SIA licence, along with civil enforcement and community safety accredited persons. This programme allows candidates to expand their knowledge on the lawful use of handcuffs.

Entry Guidance

It is required that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. The qualification is aimed at learners aged 18 and over due to age restrictions on applying for a licence. Learners will also be required to hold an SIA license in order to attend this course so that evidence of conflict management training and physical intervention skills are already attained.

Qualification Structure

This course will cover counter-ambush tactics, tactical positioning when approaching a subject. Escorting procedures both solo and as a team and many other advanced tactics not usually delivered within the SIA training programme.

The level 3 handcuff training portion of the programme covers the law and legislation surrounding the use of mechanical restraints and teaches learners the safe and effective use of handcuffs.

Qualification Assessment

This qualification is assessed by workbook which is internally marked. The practical element will also be internally assessed and recorded, along with scenarios being internally set.
